The Nitherian Language¶
Nitherian was the language of the Nitherian people, and its prestige dialect was the standard language of the empire they founded. After the empire fell, use of the imperial language ceased, but languages derived from the Nitherian dialects continued to be heard throughout the region, both as the native tongue of the area’s peoples and as trade languages.
Nitherian is notable for its lateral fricatives with sibilant harmony, its ergative alignment and VOS word order, and its elaborate spoken rituals for everyday situations.
