Consonant sounds in Kharulian come in “tight” (palatalized) and “loose” (non-palatalized) variants. The Kharulian word for a “tight” consonant is sablon [sabˈɫɔn], from the verb root fal “to squeeze”. Unfortunately for the learner, sablon itself contains only loose consonants.
